Marche Funèbre: Norizon
05/08/09 || Kampfar
March Of The Fungus is a doom/death metal band hailing Antwerp, Belgium as home. It’s a big city this, close to 1.7 million inhabitants it harbour, so a nuke or 10 should be detonated there as soon as possible. Old news, I know, but “Norizon” ain’t exactly a fucking scoop either. Fuck you.
Here is nothing, provided you didn’t start listening to metal yesterday, you haven’t heard done better before. The cuntbag behind the very words you are now reading is not an expert on doom in any shape or form – death, grind and sludge is my force – but I still find it incredibly easy to namedrop 10 doom related albums more worthy of your attention than the platter in review. Watch me not do it.
It’s a demo this, even though the dudes themselves think of it as an EP, so I guess they deserve some praise for sporting a decent production. Only thing is, decent is the name of their entire game. The growls are decent, the riffs are decent, the drumming is decent, the song-writing is decent. But my penis is ace, much like the clean-vocals on this here disc isn’t.
If your after a less desperate and good version of early Katatonia, them here Belgians is roughly put for you. Add death and we are talking precisely all of a sudden.
